Other than just searching information from Wikipedia, doing research for your programme notes should be more strict. You need to find trustworthy resources in order to present correct information in your programme notes and give correct answers in the viva voce section. Here are some useful websites that you may find the information that you need.
This website provides most of the classical and non-classical composers' biographies. Simply search the composer's name by alphabet. As this is a music records company, the information that it provides is trustworthy.
This website provides trustworthy composer's biographies. You may find most of the modern composers' biographies there. Simply search for the composer's name at the search box (red-circled) as shown in the picture on the left hand side.
